Project Overview
We were excited to take on a unique seating project for Church of the Resurrection Chapel in Leawood, Kansas. Rather than traditional pews, the chapel was furnished entirely with our Super Chair Ⅱ seating, combining the familiar appearance and comfort of pew seating with the flexibility of individual chairs.
Design and Installation Details
The chapel features Super Chair Ⅱ chairs with upholstered seats, designed to gang together in rows and create the visual appearance of traditional pews. This arrangement provides the congregation with the comfort and cohesive look they expect from pew seating while retaining the ability to rearrange the chairs whenever the space needs to be used differently.
In addition to the standard chairs, we provided several double- and triple-width Super Chair Ⅱ configurations. These wider groupings help maintain the continuous look of pew seating while adding another level of flexibility to the overall layout.
Every chair was equipped with an underseat bookrack, providing convenient storage for worship materials without interrupting the clean appearance of the seating.
One of the biggest advantages of choosing an all-chair solution is the flexibility it provides throughout the rest of the church. Since the seating is made entirely from the same Super Chair Ⅱ design, individual chairs can be moved into other areas of the church while maintaining a consistent appearance. This allows the church to adapt its seating for different events, gatherings, and spaces without sacrificing visual continuity.
The finished chapel demonstrates how thoughtful chair design can offer many of the benefits of traditional pew seating while providing far greater versatility for a changing worship environment.
